Horror Countdown

One of my passions in life is to watch a movie that scares the daylights out of me. But, sadly though, there has been no such movie to do quite the justice. But, of course, a few movies were scarier than the others. You'll probably find a dozen such lists all over Google promising to provide the desired outcome. But, the reason you should fall back on my list is because,
a) I have watched all the movies the lists have promised of being scary.
b) I don't consider too much gore to be scary. All that takes is makeup and graphics.

Bear in mind to watch the below only if you feel you can handle it and have a good bowel system.

1. The Exorcism of Emily Rose
After I watched this movie, I couldn't sleep for days together without waking up in the middle of the nights and picturing all the scenes from the movie. Anything close to reality is freaking scarier than some vampira, Frankenstein horror. This movie is based on the real story of the exorcism of Annelise Michel from Maryland.
Gross Pit: When Emily is caught eating insects in her room by her little sister.
The # 1 scene: In the case of this movie, there are more than one best scenes.
a) The scene in the church where emily is seen struggling with her inner demons. The worst part is that her boyfriend is a witness to her eyes turn bulgy and an ugly color and her bones breaking in odd shapes and her delirious screams.
b) In one of her exorcisms, when she rants 1..2...3..4..5..6 in a very insane way. There were six demons possessing her.
c) You can't possibly miss the scene when her boyfriend wakes up in the middle of the night to find her in an odd position on the floor and in a lot of pain.

2. The Exorcist
On most other sites, you'll find that this movie ranks as being the World's scariest movie. But, I beg to differ and yet it's still the second scariest movies I've ever seen. Who would have expected a small girl to get possessed by a dirty, sex deprived and ugly demon? Terrific acting from the little girl and the priest.
Gross Pit: Each time she pukes the dirty green goo goo.
The # 1 scene: Again, there are a number of classic scenes from this movie which are like the epitome of horror scenes.
a) When she stabs herself in the abdomen with the holy cross.
b) Her continuous line of curse words for the priest followed by delirious laughter
c) When she levitates off the bed
d) the classic spider walk down the stairs

3. The Entity
This movie, again based on a true story is a horror movie of it's own kind. The mystery lies in the unseen supernatural entity that forbids Carla from having a normal life by unsuspected, frequent assaults both sexual and physical. The underlying theme of the story is that nobody believes her trauma until the end. Another scary fact, the lady on whom this story is based still is a victim of these assaults although much fewer and her children are used to the invisible presence in their house.
Gross Pit: It is left to our imagination to picture the foul smelling, huge beast that assaults Carla.
The # 1 scene: When Carla gets assaulted in front of her children.

4. Audition
If you find the usual exorcist movies too much of a cliche, then here's a movie that would assure you that a ghost is not necessary to scare you. When I saw this movie, I was awestruck at how much looks can be deceiving.
Gross Pit: The tongue flapping on the floor.
The # 1 scene: The climax ( You have to watch this movie)

5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Who doesn't love a good slasher movie? Leather-face still haunts my dreams as I try to figure out how he could possibly be so mean : /
Gross Pit: When he chainsaws his victims, definitely gory.
The # 1 scene: The scene when the girl is witnessing the dinner feast of human body parts.

The above list is not permanent and is subject to change, but I'm 20 and I know what scary is, Believe me! :)
