Sometimes, it so happens that you want something greatly and it brushes against your fingertips and then, suddenly vanishes. Ever been there?
I have no doctorate in psychology to assure you that I will be able to provide you a permanent solution to this situation. But, let me tell you, the instant you see a situation as a problem. You cease to believe that there will ever be a solution to it. We humans, although born of great brilliance and higher cognitive functions, suffer more than relinquish the experiences we face in life. We hold on to things like our life depends on it, we react like we are the only entity on this planet with feelings and we take more than we've given.
Greed is the root of all evil.
If that makes you think, " Hmmm, I'm not greedy. I just helped my mother with the dishes" then you need to know that acceptance can be greater than a bitter disbelief. Accept that you are greedy, and you will realize the next time you feel greedy for anything. It's the natural process the mind puts itself through and what is more pleasurable than knowing that you can be consciously aware of every emotion you feel. By doing so, not only will you laugh at yourself at how quickly you resort from anger to happiness and so on. You will also realize the endless unnecessary trauma we put ourselves through. Why?
When you buy a bowl of hot french fries, recook it and then refrigerate it and recook it again. Would the fries taste the same as when you bought them?
Similarly, when we are angry our temperature rises, we perspire, breathe rapidly and so on until the anger subsides and we cool down until again something else gets us angry. With countless other emotions having similar physiological effects on the body, imagine all the physical and mental trauma we endure everyday of our lives. We are now as good as rotten french fries!
Change this.
Meditate. Exercise. Smile. Give.
