In today's world, the urban woman is constantly expected to play different roles right from being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, daughter in law to a co worker, personal assistant, employee, CEO et cetera. Although, the same roles are present for men too but, a woman's role is more engraved in stone and any subjections to change are frowned upon. There has been a constant debate about how the society has become sexist in nature because women are given more respect and empathy. People who call themselves feminists beg to differ from the conventional appearances and roles of a woman and strive to beat the stereotypes binding the gender. Hence, a girl who hasn't shaved her armpit hair or waxed her legs is proud of the new role she's given herself- that of a homegrown zombie. The problem with feminists is that they are in favor of the role of a man, isn't that why they beg to differ from the conventional role of a woman?
This world is made of opposites, without suppression there'd be no compassion. Using being a woman as an excuse for not getting work done or getting favors is simply exploiting the idea of sexism. I remember my post puberty talk with mother about the typical role of a woman, I was scornful and at the same time I didn't want to strike back and be a feminist because both the ideas were near nonsense to me. Women, you need to wake up! The world is not doing anything to us rather, it's our perception. Being an urban girl, brought up in a semi- orthodox but with surprise outbursts of unorthodox behaviour has been tough. But, raging against this conflict has been tougher and this has only left me whining and in need of sleep ( when I'm anxious, I'm sleepy). What's the perfect thing to do?
Forget gender and just do your work keeping in mind never to think of being a woman as a bane or a pity. Men have their own drawbacks too ;)
