Photoshopped reality- What's the deal?

"Ayeshu, shut up and eat dinner!"

" Mummy, skipping dinner is the best bet to lose weight! Just imagine, the body is starved for at least 14 hours."

" Whose weight are you talking about here?"

A conversation like this has become commonplace between mothers & daughters across families in the world. Everybody wants to look perfect and what is wrong with wanting perfection? Well, perfection itself is an illusion. Have you ever really looked at anything and felt it was absolutely perfect? Of course you have.

" Paris Hilton has the perfect life, Blake Lively has the perfect hair, Deepika Padukone has the perfect smile, Scarlett Johannsen has the perfect curvy body..." This list of observations on our part is endless.

But, when we talk about ourselves, we don't forget to mention our weaknesses after we've mentioned our strengths because it's modest. NOT!

You will be amazed to see that not only is the concept of perfection an illusion. But, the people we believe to be perfect may have their own shortcomings and well, might have even been 'photoshopped'. Yes, this is the reality in the case of many magazines. But, I don't think the magazines are to be blamed entirely. The celebrities who want their images enhanced and a little tuck here and there are afraid that they will stop selling out if they don't live up to the beauty expectations.

This is a sad existence, in all honesty, who wants to live like that? Yet, it's not justified to commit the crime of deceit. It's a lie when a celebrity's picture is photoshopped. With every photoshopped picture, there are hundreds of girls lamenting over their not-so-photoshopped appearance.

All said and done, this is creating a vicious cycle of eating disorders, Personality disorders, body dysmorphia etc.
