Where have the board games gone?

I remember how much I used to enjoy playing board games with my siblings. Irrespective of all the losses and countless tears shed, these games were something that kept us inside the house. ( Smart trick many parents should employ)

It all started with Snakes & Ladders- The frustration on the dice, snakes and co players. Then came Ludo, which brought the entire family together. My parents liked playing ludo much more than I did and I'd often team up with my mother on this one.

Snakes & Ladders

Enter Chess, and I would fight to play while my brothers argued with my mother that I wasn't old enough to play. I know that they were just afraid I'd outsmart them.

Then came Business, this game came out when I was pretty young to do the math. But, never ending as it is, this game surely is amazing until you start going bankrupt. ( I still cry when this happens and your brothers turn foes)

Business

There was Housie which took everbody in the crowd by storm, much like bingo this game was a crowd puller and well, who wouldn't want to win for a surprise gift?

Then came Monopoly, a great game from the west. With fancy coins and avatars, this game won my heart over. I remember playing it with my cousins and boy, the banker was never fast enough!

How could I possibly miss Game of Life, this game in my opinion was made for all the crybabies of Monopoly. Intended to end quickly with no complicated mind work, this game was easy to understand and easier to play and no dice hassles!

Who can possibly miss out playing Scrabble in their lives? The best game ever!

I remember around this time, the detective genre was getting famous on TV, Cinema, Cartoons and well, it caught up with board games too. I remember I bought the game Cluedo with my cousin and well, it's the most pathetic purchase we've ever made. The game is just too overwhelming. ( Even for an analyst)

But, however, Scotland Yard has taken over the drawbacks of cluedo and made a simple yet guess-y game which is fun.

The scenario now has changed, but, this article will be a memorandum for the future reflecting all the wonderful games we had in our childhood and all the bullshit games there are now- thanks to technology.
