I recall a poem from my school days, probably one of the most sensible ones I've read in my life. It was about this woman who didn't believe what she saw before the mirror and instead took comfort in her reflection on the water. She felt miserable whenever she saw herself before the mirror and could remember far and wide how time has taken away beauty, life and presence from her face. Yet, she comes to believe that it may not be her rather the porcelain white wall which is making her look duller and older.
This poem brings to my mind the reality which exists today. Although this poem was written a very long time ago, as was the case with many stories and poems in the NCERT textbooks. It is an eye opener to the mentality that exists even to this day. People fall in love with physical beauty everyday. But, it doesn't last just like everything on this Earth.

Interesting post. But what if people do realize that beauty does not last forever and still want to admire it for what its worth!
ReplyDeleteHello Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteAdmiration is a very good quality to have. But, we have to master where to draw a line between admiration and dependence.
Life gives us such qualities for a reason. Utilizing them for the right purpose before they are no more is not dependence i guess. :)
DeleteAnd mastering such things is not within our control, instead Time will teach us the precious lessons we are required to learn.
