Plankton

Learning about the planktons/ zooplanktons/ holoplanktons has made me realize the stark similarity that exists between them and us. Planktons are greatly misunderstood creatures in our world today. Their very point of existence is crucial for the ecological balance of the marine world. But, their importance remains undermined because they remain at the ground level of seas for the most part and hardly come out in the open. It is even more surprising to note that most of the planktons are actually either transparent or microscopic and the ones that are macro-sized are ugly, poisonous and dangerous. But, their existence is VERY important. Take for instance, a physalia physalis, it is a colony of different organisms that merge together to form one whole being. Alone, the physalia physalis would be incapable of survival. But, together they have the tremendous power that can destroy.
